This program traces the evolution of swing dance—from its roots in early jazz and African American vernacular movement to the high-energy styles that continue to inspire today. Each piece reflects a moment in the history, rhythm, and cultural legacy of swing.

Note: In many cases, dance routines share the same title as the music to which they are performed. When a routine uses different music, it is noted below.

The Los Angeles Swing Dance Posse Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to:

  • Preserving historic swing dance traditions

  • Promoting African American vernacular jazz

  • Teaching and sharing these art forms with diverse communities
